The expert spoke about ways to increase the efficiency of his staff.
Improving the efficiency of employees is directly related not only to the organization of work processes, but also to their psychological state. Vladislav Bykhanov, Managing partner of Cornerstone HR company, told Izvestia about this on March 31.
"When a person lives in a constant state of anxiety, his cognitive resources are depleted. In fact, the brain in this state works in the mode of "survival", not development," he explained.
According to the expert, concentration decreases in such conditions, memory and decision-making ability deteriorate, and the number of errors increases. As a result, employees spend a significant part of their attention on internal experiences, which is reflected in the overall level of productivity.
Bykhanov stressed that the effect of anxiety is also evident at the business level. Among the most common consequences is the so—called pseudo-employment, when an employee is formally busy all day, but performs a minimum amount of tasks. In addition, the number of errors and alterations is increasing, burnout is accelerating and staff turnover is increasing. Initiative also decreases, as any non-standard solutions are perceived as a risk.
In his opinion, productivity improvement is impossible without systematic work with the psychological state of employees. In particular, transparent communication within the company and reducing the level of uncertainty are important, controlling the information flow and limiting the consumption of disturbing news, as well as observing the recovery regime — sleep, physical activity and breaks. It is also important to clearly separate the areas of responsibility.
"When a person takes on more than they can control, anxiety increases. The solution: a clear distribution of tasks, the rejection of "blurred" roles," Bykhanov said.
Veronika Akhmetova, a psychologist and member of the Association for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, reported on March 11 that working with artificial intelligence (AI) can cause depression and burnout among employees if interaction with the system is not built correctly. According to her, frequent interaction with AI can lead to depression and emotional burnout for several reasons. First of all, this is due to the loss of the meaning of work.
