The expert recalled the change in the rules for registration of installments from April 1.

Starting from April 1, new installment payment rules will come into force in Russia, including a ban on overcharging with this payment method. This was announced on March 30 by Tatyana Lakhtina, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

"From April 1 <...> the provisions of the Law on Consumer Protection are beginning to take effect, according to which the seller is prohibited from setting different prices for one type of goods, works or services, depending on the use of the installment service by customers, payment in installments or after a certain time," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the expert, now sellers will not be able to increase the cost of goods, introduce additional commissions or impose services when paying in installments. Lakhtina clarified that the innovations do not apply to certain forms of partnership financing and shared-equity construction contracts, as they are regulated by special legislation.
