The offer of assistance by the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, to the countries of the Middle East, which could not be protected even by the US bases stationed there, is surreal. This was announced on March 29 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.

"It's funny to see a green insect jumping around the [Persian] Gulf countries and offering protection from drones. Some kind of sur! The American bases of their allies could not be protected, but the disappearing state is ready and "we can do it," Medvedev said in a video posted on his Telegram channel.

The deputy chairman of the Security Council ironically asked which drug cartel Zelensky would turn to next. According to Medvedev, the parties have something to offer each other.

Zelensky announced on March 17 that Ukraine had sent 201 military specialists in the field of countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the countries of the Middle East. Zelensky clarified that we are talking about anti-drone specialists sent at the request of the United States and other partners of Kiev within the framework of the relevant agreement.

At the same time, on March 29, the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported that Zelensky's trip to the Persian Gulf countries was nothing more than an attempt to seek help, which was receiving less and less from Western countries. The publication noted that the Pentagon is considering the possibility of redirecting weapons that were originally intended for Ukraine to the Middle East, as the conflict with Iran is depleting American stocks.

On March 27, Zelensky shared with BBC journalists his "very bad feeling" about the consequences of the conflict in the Middle East that could come for his country. Supplies of shells to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), including for air defense systems, as he suggested, may decrease.
