Iranian Foreign Minister condemns killing of three journalists in southern Lebanon
On March 29, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi condemned the killing of three journalists in southern Lebanon as a result of an Israeli attack and called on the international community to protect media workers more effectively.
"Strongly condemning this crime and emphasizing the need for effective actions by the international community to protect journalists and ensure accountability for those responsible for such attacks, I express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims and their colleagues," Araqchi wrote on his Telegram channel.
In his opinion, the incident is a premeditated murder by Israel, the purpose of which was an attempt to "silence those who tell the truth." He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and their colleagues.
A day earlier, an Israeli military strike in Lebanon killed journalist Fatima Ftouni, her brother, photojournalist Mohammed Ftouni, and Al—Manar reporter Ali Hassan Shahaib. The car used by the media staff turned out to be almost completely destroyed.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the murder and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and all representatives of the journalistic and media community. Roni Alpha, director of the Middle East information bureau of Al Mayadeen, also called the deceased journalist Fatima Ftouni, who collaborated with Izvestia, a heroine. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the attack on the journalists' car a grave crime and noted that they would insist on the need to investigate this murder and bring all those responsible to justice.
