- The State Duma reported on the blocking by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation of the law on the return of beer to stadiums
Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Health have blocked the adoption of a bill on the potential return of beer to stadiums. This was announced on March 28 by Dmitry Svishchev, First Deputy chairman of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
"The Ministry of Health has blocked the adoption of this law. There are no prospects for the return of beer in the near future," he said in an interview with Sport-Express.
Svishchev clarified that drinking beer is likely to remain in history, as this, according to representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, "alcoholizes" society.
"A fan comes to the arena, and he is there to watch the match of his favorite team, not to drink. If he takes two glasses of beer at most, will he get drunk on it? No. Those who want to get drunk, they go to a bar or home, buy a case of beer, grabbing chips with a wobble. It's much scarier," he concluded.
On December 20, 2025, Sergey Kuzmichev, Chairman of the judicial staff of the Judicial Board for Administrative Cases, reminded that spectators have the right to bring soft drinks and food to the stadium. A few months earlier, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development supported the return of beer sales at stadiums. Restrictions on the sale of beer and beer drinks in catering establishments located in stadiums had been in effect in the Russian Federation for 20 years since 2005.
