Oleg Shuher, a Russian director and teacher at the Gerasimov All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), died on March 28 at the age of 72. He devoted his life to cinematography and teaching, eventually becoming dean of the VGIK Faculty of Directing. Life and professional activity

Oleg Shuher was born on March 31, 1954. As a stage director and screenwriter, he worked at major Russian film studios, including Mosfilm and Chistye Prudy of the Rolan Bykov Foundation. His professional activity was closely connected with television: he collaborated with the TVC television company, as well as the channels "Russia 1" and "Culture".

In 1979, Shuher participated in the documentary "VGIK: Teachers and students talk about the profession," and since 1989 he himself became a teacher at the institute. At VGIK, Shuher taught a specialized discipline — film directing.

Hospitalization

The day before his death, on March 27, Shuher was urgently hospitalized directly from the VGIK building. According to a source in Izvestia, the director became ill with a heart condition, and doctors took him to a medical facility in a state of clinical death. The teacher was also diagnosed with a chronic illness.

Later, the institute clarified that the director is in intensive care, he was given an indirect heart massage.

Death

Oleg Shuher died on Saturday morning, March 28. The director's son reported that his father's heart stopped at 07:30 a.m. in the hospital. Later, the teacher's entourage clarified that the cause of the tragedy was a heart attack.
