The United States plans to send the Nimitz—class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush to the Middle East, to an area close to the war zone with Iran. CNN reported this on March 28, citing sources.

"The aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush is expected to be sent to an area close to the zone of the ongoing conflict with Iran," the publication says.

It is specified that the aircraft carrier will go to the area of responsibility of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM), which includes the Middle East. It is not specified whether these aircraft carriers will replace those that are already in the region and are participating in hostilities against the Islamic Republic, or join them.

According to the publication, the USS Gerald R. Ford has shifted to the south in the central part of the Red Sea near the port of Jeddah. At the same time, the USS Abraham Lincoln was transferred to the waters southwest of Oman.

Bloomberg reported on March 24 that the Pentagon expressed concern about the condition of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford after a fire occurred on it in early March. It is noted that the aircraft carrier, which took part in the conflict with Iran, left the Middle East region and arrived at the port on the island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea. Pentagon experts fear that there may be serious problems on board the ship, the exact causes of which have not yet been established.
