On Friday and next weekend, March 27-29, traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the roads of the country, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by the regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate.

The raids will take place in Leningrad, Tver, Ivanovo, Lipetsk, Ulyanovsk, Omsk, Kirov regions and other regions of the country.

"Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most serious traffic violations, which often leads to the most serious consequences. Such irresponsible behavior by some motorists who allow themselves to drive drunk poses a threat not only to their lives and health, but also to the lives and health of other road users. The State Traffic Inspectorate is actively fighting drunk drivers. Events aimed at identifying drivers in a state of intoxication are held regularly in all regions of the country, especially on weekends," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

He urged road users not to remain indifferent to this problem and to report to the police about people who behave inappropriately on the road and drive drunk. Traffic police inspectors will take the necessary operational response measures for all incoming signals.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entails, by court decision, deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for a period of one and a half to two years and the payment of a large administrative fine. In addition, in some cases, drivers are already facing criminal liability.

The day before, it was reported that in Moscow, from March 27 to March 29, an event "Bicycle Courier" will be held, aimed at preventing offenses among delivery service providers.
