In Russia, the introduction of mandatory equipment of vehicles imported by individuals with SOS buttons with ERA-GLONASS connection has been postponed to a later date. This was announced on March 27 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, TASS reports.

It was originally planned that the rule would come into force on April 1. The draft resolution is currently undergoing interdepartmental approval, the Ministry of Industry and Trade added.

The explanatory note to the draft resolution states that in 2024 and 2025, within the framework of the moratorium, individuals imported more than 780,000 vehicles for their own needs that were not equipped with emergency call devices.

"People who were injured in an accident with a car not equipped with an UVEOS cannot use the emergency services through ERA-GLONASS traffic police, therefore their lives and health are in additional danger. The lack of mandatory standards for equipping vehicles imported by individuals poses a threat to achieving the target for reducing deaths in road accidents," the document says.

As representatives of the ERA-GLONASS state information system operator told in October last year, Russian drivers began to use the alarm button more often. From the beginning of 2025 until the fall, the system transmitted 11.2 thousand SOS signals to rescuers in manual mode.
