- The defendant in the case of the terrorist attack against journalists Brovdi requested a life sentence
The state prosecution asks to sentence the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to life imprisonment Robert Brovdi (included in the Rosfinmonitoring list of terrorists and extremists), accused in absentia of a terrorist attack against Russian journalists. This was announced on March 27 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the hall of the Second Western District Military Court.
According to investigators, in early 2025, he ordered Ukrainian militants to remotely mine roads and open areas of the Kursk and Belgorod regions, which are located in close proximity to the border with Ukraine.
Brovdi is now on the international wanted list.
The investigation into the case of Commander Robert Brovdi, who was involved in the death of Channel One correspondent Anna Prokofieva, ended on January 24. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation added that an explosive device planted by Ukrainian armed groups exploded at one of the sites, as a result of which Prokofiev died.
On April 17, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the Order of Courage posthumously to Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak, Channel One correspondent Anna Prokofieva, and Zvezda TV cameraman Andrei Panov.
The death of military commander Prokofieva became known on March 26, 2025. The car with the film crew was blown up by a mine planted by Ukrainian militants. Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, said on March 25 that the murders of Russian journalists were seen as a continuation of Nazi practices by Ukraine.
