- Blogger Litvin announced the loss of 3.8 million rubles when trying to return a hacked account.
On March 27, blogger Mikhail Litvin announced on his Telegram channel that he had lost $50,000 (3.8 million rubles) in an attempt to return an account stolen by scammers on a social network.
According to Litvin, after the break-in, he immediately filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office. He added that his fellow bloggers had advised him to pay the hacker to refund his account.
Litvin stated that he did as he was advised and fulfilled all the terms of the deal, but access to the page was never returned to him. In addition, he expressed the opinion that the same group is behind a series of hacks of Russian stars.
Blogger Victoria Portfolio stated on January 4 on her Instagram page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) that her family and friends had been victims of fraud by a proven tour operator for years, and losses could amount to over 100 million rubles. It is noted that the tour operator did not respond to calls. Later, Victoria managed to contact the fraudster's father, and he informed her that she had died. Victoria believes that the amount of damage can reach 100 million rubles.
