The restoration of the facades of historical buildings at the corner of Nevsky Prospekt and Pushkinskaya Street has started in St. Petersburg. This was announced by Governor Alexander Beglov in his social networks on Thursday, March 26.

We are talking about the famous twin houses at Nevsky Prospekt, 77/1 and 79/2, writes 78.ru . The buildings with caryatids and stucco decorations that frame the beginning of Pushkinskaya Street have a rich history.

"Both buildings are an integral part of the history and culture of the Northern Capital. We plan to complete the restoration by the end of next year," Beglov said.

For example, the legendary Nevsky Baths were located in house No. 77/1 for more than a hundred years, until the 1960s. Alexander Green and Ivan Bunin lived in the apartments above. The brothers Peter and Anatoly Tchaikovsky lived in the house opposite.

According to the governor, the restoration of the historical appearance of the buildings was included in the program "10 priorities for the development of St. Petersburg." It is planned to renovate the facades of 255 apartment buildings by 2030.

Earlier it was reported that in St. Petersburg, a preferential loan could be attracted for the restoration of the Kresty complex. The cost of the project is about 15 billion rubles.
