A resident of Transbaikalia was sentenced to nine years for financing terrorism
A man in the Trans-Baikal Territory was sentenced to nine years in prison for financing a terrorist organization. This was announced on March 26 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
"The court found that from April to November 2020, the man, sharing the ideology of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia, made 18 transfers totaling 2,000 rubles in its favor using a cell phone and banking applications installed in it," the department said in a Telegram channel.
It is specified that the crime was discovered by employees of the local Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia in 2026, after which the accused was taken into custody. He was found guilty under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Financing of terrorism").
The second military court sentenced the man to nine years in prison. According to the agency, the defendant will serve the first three years in prison, and the remaining term in a high-security colony. The investigation also confiscated a sum of money that corresponds to the size of the transfers being made and the cost of the smartphone used for them.
On March 24, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Andrei Balashov to 15 years in prison, finding him guilty of preparing a terrorist act at military and infrastructure facilities in Stavropol on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. The investigation found that in October 2023, the convict initiatively entered into correspondence with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), expressing his readiness to commit sabotage on the territory of Russia. In November of the same year, on the instructions of the curator, Balashov arrived in the city of Georgievsk, where he rented a house for conspiratorial activities.
