Fraudsters began actively using bots to attack Russians, creating bot farms and using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to test all functions of banking applications around the clock in search of logic errors. Ilya Zuev, Vice President for Information Security at MTS Bank, told about this on March 25.

"Today, scammers are trying to create entire bot farms and using artificial intelligence, they check every button in the application around the clock in search of logic errors," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to Zuev, the attackers buy thousands of SIM cards, place them in special boxes, after which the phones begin to automatically log into bank applications, imitating the actions of customers.

It clarifies that banks protect themselves from attacks by using systems such as Preventive Proxy of domestic development to protect against cybercrime.

This system, as the expert explained, draws attention to user actions using algorithms to distinguish a bot from a human and creates a "digital fingerprint" of the device, skipping only trusted devices./

Alexandra Pozharskaya, deputy head of the project of the Popular Front for Borrowers' Rights, expert of the Moshelovka platform, reported on March 25 that fraudsters began installing spyware on devices secretly from their owner, while only antiviruses or security programs can prove the fact of surveillance. Pozharskaya clarified that spyware is not noticeable to device owners: it takes up little memory, downloads occur in the background automatically and does not require access permissions.
