Ex-TV presenter Farida Kurbangaleeva (listed in the register of foreign agents of the Russian Federation and in the list of extremists and terrorists) is facing a second criminal case for repeated violations of the law on the activities of foreign agents. Lawyer Andrey Alyoshkin informed Izvestia about this on March 25.

As follows from the court materials available to Izvestia, a court in Tatarstan brought Kurbangaleeva to administrative responsibility four times for the absence of a foreign agent's name on Telegram and the failure to report on her activities to the authorized body. The total amount of fines imposed by the TV presenter amounted to 170 thousand rubles. The court decided to transfer the fifth protocol under its jurisdiction.

"According to Russian law, a case against Kurbangaleeva can be initiated after the first administrative fine under Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the procedure for the activity of a foreign agent"), but as practice shows, criminal cases are most often initiated after the second fine," Alyoshkin said.

Thus, a case may be brought against the TV presenter under Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents"), which could result in up to two years in prison.

On March 23, it was reported in the database of the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP) that 208 thousand rubles in fines were being forcibly collected from Kurbangaleeva. It was noted that from February 2025 to January 2026, bailiffs initiated five enforcement proceedings against Kurbangaleeva for a total amount of over 208 thousand rubles.

On June 26, 2024, Kurbangaleeva was arrested in absentia for two months. On July 30, the court rejected her appeal against her arrest in absentia. On October 9, the journalist was put on the international wanted list for spreading false information about the Russian army.

The Ministry of Justice added Kurbangaleeva to the list of foreign agents on June 28 for spreading fakes about decisions taken by public authorities of the Russian Federation and their policies. On October 18, she appealed her status as a foreign agent in court.
