The expert called the risks of insufficient regulation of AI in education
The lack of proper regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) in education can lead to a gap between formal learning outcomes and the actual competencies of graduates. Evgenia Boltak, the head of the HR department of the Polylog Group, told Izvestia about this on March 25.
"When the result is assessed only by a "beautiful" final document, employers risk encountering candidates who formally perform tasks but are poorly versed in the essence. In addition, it increases the burden on employers, who actually have to retrain employees already at the workplace," Boltak added.
According to her, AI has already become an integral part of the educational process. She explained that many people use it not only to search for information, but also to solve educational tasks, which saves time and effort on the routine part of the work.
In addition, the specialist noted that it is important to integrate AI into the educational process so that students learn to work with it consciously: formulate tasks, analyze the answers received, verify their validity and justify their choice. This approach will help to reduce the risks of superficial use of technology and will allow us to train specialists who are able to solve real-world problems in the face of technological change.
On March 22, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov (LDPR) proposed the creation of an institute for the protection of citizens' rights in cooperation with AI technologies. According to him, the new body will be able to receive complaints about decisions related to artificial intelligence, analyze algorithm errors and cases of fake news. The Institute's tasks also include preparing recommendations for the safe implementation of AI in business and government structures.
