- The winners of the Izvestia correspondent Fedorchak memorial competition were awarded in Crimea.
On March 25, the Vernadsky Crimean Federal University hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the journalistic works competition in memory of Izvestia war correspondent Alexander Fedorchak.
"Sasha's creative path is an example of a man who devoted himself completely to his work, who was not afraid to sacrifice his life to bring the truth to people," said Polina Dreeva, a participant in the competition.
She added that Fedorchak went through a strong career path and gave his life for his profession, and it's worth being proud of him and remembering him. The participant also noted that the correspondent had done a lot for the university. In turn, Diana Pervykh, Head of the Department of Journalism at the Vernadsky KFU, stressed that almost 100 works had been submitted to the competition, and the geography of the creative competition covered different parts of Russia — from Crimea to Kaliningrad.
"Thanks to the competition, we think more and more new people, new students, new students from schools and colleges who also take part in this competition will learn about Sasha every year," she said.
According to the First, the memory of Fedorchak will only strengthen — he will be famous throughout Russia for many, many years to come.
On March 24, the memory of the Izvestia war correspondent was honored in Crimea. On the anniversary of the death of the correspondent, a "memory line" is being held at his native school. This lyceum is now officially named after Alexander Fedorchak.
Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak died in the SVR zone on March 24, 2025. On the same day, Andrey Panov, the operator of the Zvezda TV channel, and Alexander Sirkeli, the driver of the film crew, died.
On April 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding Fedorchak the Order of Courage posthumously. In addition, the award was awarded to the deceased correspondents of Channel One, Anna Prokofieva, and the operator of the Zvezda TV channel, Andrei Panov. The award given to Fedorchak was handed over to his parents on June 17.
