The death toll from the crash of the Hercules C-130 aircraft of the Colombian Air Force (FAC) in the Colombian municipality of Puerto Leguizamo has risen to 68. This was announced on March 24 by Mayor Luis Emilio Bustos.

"We regret to announce that the death toll has just risen to 68," he told Blu Radio.

According to him, rescue units, representatives of law enforcement agencies and criminologists are working to identify the victims, while providing necessary assistance to the injured and survivors.

Telerama reported on March 23 that a Hercules FAC aircraft crashed during takeoff from Puerto Leguizamo.

Sky News channel, citing the governor of the department, John Molina, reported earlier that day that 34 people died in a plane crash in southern Colombia. It was clarified that 77 people were rescued as a result of the incident, and 40 people were considered missing at that time.

The newspaper El Tempo reported on March 24 that the number of victims of the crash had increased to 66 people.
