Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, announced on March 24 a possible jump in oil prices to $200 due to British aid in the Strait of Hormuz.
"Given the impeccable reputation of [British Prime Minister Keir] Starmer, marked by constant failures, as a result, the price of oil may reach $200," the message on the social network X says.
Thus, Dmitriev commented on a post on the BRICS official page that the UK would lead a coalition that would ensure the resumption of work in the Strait of Hormuz.
On March 14, US President Donald Trump appealed to states that depend on oil supplied through the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the safety of this transport route.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on March 24 that the European Union was considering sending its ships to the Strait of Hormuz only after the completion of the US and Israeli military operation against Iran.
