The most popular TV series of 2025 was "The Squid Game"
The Medialogia company has developed the first Russian rating of TV series, it was presented on Tuesday, March 24, in Moscow. To do this, we used a unique technique for evaluating the audience's interaction with content, said film critic Nikolai Nikulin.
"The Russian rating, presented by leading Russian media managers, is an open, accessible and unique tool that helps both experts and viewers navigate the world of TV series. So, in the top twenty for 2025, we see both domestic comedy sitcoms, and foreign action thrillers, and, attention, Turkish melodramas," Nikulin noted.
Alexander Kosarim, Director of Content Policy at Wink video service, in turn, said that now we have to analyze a large amount of information from various sources in order to understand the topics from the point of view of project production. This is an aggregated rating that allows you not to do this work, but actually get a ready-made tool for such an analysis, he added.
The most popular TV series of 2025 was the South Korean "Squid Game". There's a survival plot, and social conflicts, and an Asian acting school — all the factors worked. The second was the series "Very strange Things" — a fantastic story about the struggle of teenagers with a mystical force from the other side of the world.
In third place is the national record holder for the number of episodes of "Trace". In the top ten there are such well-known projects as the musical drama "Lilies of the Valley" and the detective story about the capture of the maniac "Fisher".
The rating takes into account both interest in search queries and, in fact, viewing on television and online platforms. The degree of coverage in the media and social networks is also taken into account. Each series gets a certain number of points based on data from 19 different metrics. With the help of a mathematical formula, "The Squid Game" received 42 thousand points, and the thriller "The Walking Dead", which took 13th place, received more than 7 thousand points.
"The product that was presented today seems to me, firstly, very interesting and very useful. It will be easier for us to understand what the viewer's request is now," added producer Maxim Korolev.
Producer Fyodor Bondarchuk added that the viewing statistics make it possible to trace the last most important link in a long industrial chain, namely the viewer's link, in order to understand and feel it more precisely, rather than working blindly.
There are three Turkish melodramas in the top twenty at once: "Kingfisher", "Cranberry Sherbet" and "Distant City". Most of the series are Russian-made. There is also a historical action movie of the REN TV channel — "SMERSH".
"It is very important for us to know and understand that this or that theme, this or that format, this or that actor, this or that genre is really in demand. This is such a significant pointing finger that will tell us what the audience really needs at the moment," said Anatoly Tupitsyn, executive producer of the REN TV channel.
On the same day, Medialogia presented the Russian series rating, the first release of which was the top 100 most popular projects of 2025. Irina Solomatina, CEO of Medialogia, told Izvestia that the rating of the series developed by the company is unique.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
