The first case of tick attack was revealed in Transbaikalia
In Transbaikalia, as of Tuesday, March 24, the first case of tick sucking in 2026 was recorded. The victim was a child, the press service of the regional Rospotrebnadzor reports.
The incident occurred in the village of Nizhny Tsasuchey (Ononsky district). An insect bit a schoolboy on the scalp when he was walking home.
As noted by the ChitaMedia news agency, a year earlier, the tick-borne activity season began in Transbaikalia a day earlier. The first bite case was reported on March 23.
Earlier it was reported that ticks of the Hyalomma genus appeared on the territory of Russia, which are distinguished by their large size and durable shell. They're about three times the size of regular ones, so they're easier to spot on clothing.
