The air temperature exceeded the norm by 7-8 degrees in the Murmansk region

In the second decade of March, an increase in air temperature was recorded in the Murmansk region. The indicator exceeded the climatic norm by 7-8 degrees.

According to the Bi-port news agency, the steady temperature is more in line with the indicators of the end of April and the beginning of May. The largest deviation from the norm was recorded in the central regions of the region and in the west. The previous abnormal figures for the second decade of March were recorded in 1992 and 2015.

The warming trend will continue in the third decade. The weather in the Murmansk region is determined by cyclones in the Barents and Norwegian Seas.

Due to the early thaw, the traditional Murmansk Ski Marathon, which was scheduled to take place over the weekend as part of the 91st Holiday of the North, had to be canceled. Thawed patches and streams appeared on the track along which the skiers were supposed to pass.
