The Kurgan Investigative Committee named the preliminary cause of the fire with two dead children.

The cause of the fire in the town of Petukhovo, Kurgan region, which killed two small children, could have been careless handling of fire. The SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kurgan region reported this on Tuesday, March 24.

The fire occurred the night before, on March 23, in a five-storey building on Oktyabrskaya Street. Two-year-old and five-year-old children, who were left alone in the apartment, died due to smoke. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, their mother went out at that time on business with the eldest child.

"Specialized services and departments are working on the site to determine the causes of the fire and the deaths of children. The mother and [two other] children will receive all necessary assistance," the press service of the regional government reported on the day of the tragedy.

According to the <url> news agency, the mother and the child who were with her were offered temporary accommodation and the help of a psychologist, but they stayed with relatives. Another child lives with his grandmother. According to the authorities, the family was not registered.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing death by negligence." The preliminary cause of the fire in the UK is called the careless handling of fire by children.

The situation will be dealt with by the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Kurgan region Marina Samoilova, the regional commission for Minors, as well as the leadership of the regional Department of social Policy. Their task is to assess the living conditions of the family and coordinate assistance.
