Experts from the People's Republic of China (PRC), who are on board dozens of research vessels, are developing a map of the ocean day in case of a potential war with the United States. This was reported on March 24 by the Reuters news agency, citing naval experts.

"Dozens of Chinese research vessels are engaged in mapping the seabed in strategically important regions of the world's oceans. <...> This gives Beijing a detailed picture of the marine environment in which underwater battles will unfold in the event of a conflict (with the United States. — Ed.)," the article says.

It also clarifies that part of the ongoing activities is also aimed at establishing mineral deposits and fishing grounds. Scientists, among other things, study the composition of pollutants found in the water and the state of the climate in a particular part of the water. It is noted that movements in the designated area are carried out along clear routes, which are then mapped.

As added in the "Newspaper.Ru", Chinese experts pay special attention to the bottom of the South China Sea, as well as the Pacific and Indian Oceans, when researching and recording their results.

On March 21, the intelligence community classified China as a state that allegedly poses a threat to US security. According to American experts, this country, standing on a par with Russia, North Korea and Iran, is allegedly a strategic competitor, which in turn hinders Washington's ambitions.
