Biotechnological measures were carried out in the Jilin Nature Reserve (Zabaikalsky Krai) to support wild animals during the difficult season, the press service of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported on Tuesday, March 24.

The inspectors of the reserve have organized special areas for feeding. They put more than a ton of salt, hay and birch brooms on the sites.

The end of winter and the beginning of spring remain a critical period for the inhabitants of the natural area. By this time, ungulates have almost exhausted their fat reserves, and access to fresh vegetation is still limited.

As noted by ChitaMedia news agency, the situation is complicated by the stale snow cover, which animals can be injured by and the increased activity of predators, in particular wolves.

Earlier it was reported that a new version of the Red Book of Animals was released in Transbaikalia. The work on the publication was carried out for five years.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
