Personal qualities and biography

Sergey Yarashev was born in 2005 in the Samara region. After completing his military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, he decided to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. He was in the area of the special operation as part of the assault unit of the Southern Group of Forces.

Private Sergei Yarashev, a soldier of the 51st Guards Combined Arms Army, showed heroism during the assault on a strategically important stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Being surrounded in the area of the Grishino settlement, the 21-year-old soldier held the captured positions alone for 68 days. For about a month, he remained unnoticed, hiding in old hangars and sleeping in a pit under the floor.

Despite the lack of direct communication with the unit in the early days, Yarashev continued to transmit intelligence data and repelled several enemy attacks. The command supported the fighter with the help of drones, which delivered food and ammunition to him, and artillery provided cover. The private refused the offers of the Ukrainian military to surrender and continued the fight.

The fighter recalls his first assignment and the encounter with superior enemy forces.:

"I stayed for a short time, maybe a little more than a week or eight days, like even <...>, and went on my first combat mission <...> with a group of three people. <...> At first I didn't realize that I <...>...> i'm really hot. For this feat, President Vladimir Putin awarded Sergei Yarashev the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
