Moscow metro builders have developed a new method of assembling tunnel systems, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said. The solution was applied when laying the tunnels of the Troitskaya line, the mayor said in the MAX messenger.

As Sobyanin noted, the tunnels between Novomoskovskaya and Sosenki stations "had to be laid in very cramped conditions." Due to the technological features of the process, one of the shields was shortened from 106 to 70 m. He had to be lowered into the excavation in parts.

With the preparation of the second shield, the task became more complicated. For its operation, engineers used a conveyor system that collects rock into a compact storage device. Thanks to this, there was a place on the site for the safe movement of workers, the mayor said.

The first section of the Troitskaya line with a length of more than 25 km was opened in the fall of 2025. Currently, 11 stations are operating — from ZILA to Novomoskovskaya in Kommunarka. About 90,000 passengers use the line daily.

The second section will run along the Kaluga highway from Kommunarka to Troitsk. During its construction, specialists will have to lay dozens of kilometers of tunnels, build six stations, and equip transport hubs, Moscow 24 notes. After completion of the work, the total length of the line will be 43 km.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
