Residents of apartment buildings may face fines for storing old furniture on balconies. This was announced on March 24 by Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation for the public examination of draft laws.

"Old things can easily catch fire from an accidental cigarette butt on the balcony. In addition, a cluttered balcony blocks escape routes through fire escapes and ladders, if they are provided in the house," RIA Novosti quoted the specialist as saying.

Masharov added that the balcony falls under the general rules of operation of an apartment building. According to building regulations, the maximum permissible load on a balcony slab is 200 kg per square meter, so cluttering can lead to collapse. 7.21 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("violation of the rules for the use of residential premises") provides for a fine of 1 thousand to 1.5 thousand rubles.

At the same time, it is safe to store bicycles, skis, potted plants and leisure furniture on the balcony.

On March 14, Russians were warned about a fine for using a washing machine at night. It was clarified that the legislation does not define an exhaustive list of noise sources, so even a washing machine may fall under the formal sign of a violation. In most regions, the fine for violating silence ranges from 500 to 3,000 rubles.
