Three buildings damaged in Rome explosion
In Rome, a gas explosion occurred in the area of Piana del Sole, two people were injured. This was announced on March 22 by the local fire department on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
"As a result of a possible gas leak, an explosion occurred in a villa in the southern suburbs, affecting several nearby houses; two people were rescued from the rubble," the material says.
As the Messaggero newspaper pointed out, the incident occurred on Via Tavagnasco Street, three residential buildings were damaged. As a result of the explosion, one of the buildings collapsed, and the debris damaged parked cars. According to the emergency services, about 70 people were evacuated from the danger zone.
Rescuers completed the search operation and ruled out the presence of other victims under the rubble. Work is currently underway to ensure safety at the scene. The mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, went to the scene, the situation is under the control of the city authorities.
Earlier in the day, two low-rise buildings collapsed in Istanbul. The incident occurred in the Ayvansarai quarter. The preliminary cause was an explosion of domestic natural gas, which led to the immediate destruction of houses. Fire service crews, medical teams, police and specialized emergency management units were sent to the site.
