Sleeping together as a couple creates a sense of security and is often seen as a manifestation of love and romance. However, this harmony can be disrupted by things like the snoring of one of the partners, a difference in biorhythms, or a mismatch in sleep habits. Olga Tokareva, a psychologist and sexologist, and Olesya Solodkova, a category manager for ORMATEK mattresses, told how to find a balance between intimacy and comfort on March 21. "Газете.Ru ".

"I can say unequivocally: separate sleep is detrimental to relationships. When sleeping together, a woman most often feels protected, oxytocin dependence is triggered (oxytocin is the hormone of attachment. — Ed.). If a couple who have always slept together suddenly went to different rooms, most often this indicates the beginning of the breakdown of the relationship," warned Tokareva.

It is noted that sometimes the desire to sleep separately is explained not by cooling the senses, but simply by lack of sleep. In such cases, experts advise solving the problem not by traveling, but by properly organizing a sleeping place so that both partners feel comfortable despite differences in habits and physiology.

According to Solodkova, a common problem is the difference in mattress stiffness preferences, especially when there is a large difference in the weight of the partners.

At the same time, the specialist emphasized that separate sleep can be useful if the partners initially have different rhythms of life or different preferences for sleep conditions, for example, an open window or a high temperature.

Tokareva recommended that each couple look for their own ways to maintain intimacy when sleeping separately, noting the importance of bedtime kisses, kind words, hugs, and attention throughout the day.

She concluded that if one of the partners stops going to bed together for no objective reason, this is a good reason to be wary and discuss the problem. In some cases, the situation may require contacting a psychologist.

Director of the Institute of Biology of Aging and Medicine of Healthy Longevity with the Clinic of Preventive Medicine of the Russian National Research Center. On March 20, Academician B.V. Petrovsky, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences Alexey Moskalev said that during sleep, the human brain outputs the protein beta-amyloid, associated with the development of Alzheimer's disease. The scientist also noticed that during sleep, the brain is engaged in organizing memory.
