Olga Chirkova, a doctor and expert in medical prevention, told us how to leave the fast correctly.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, March 20, the doctor warned that a sudden transition from lean to fatty foods could lead to serious consequences, including emergency surgery.

She noted that fasting should not be perceived as a diet: in case of gastrointestinal diseases and metabolic disorders, it is better to abandon it. Also, according to her, pregnant women, lactating women and people with high physical activity do not fast.

The expert stressed that the greatest danger is coming out of fasting: after prolonged abstinence, many abruptly switch to heavy food, which overloads the body and can harm the gallbladder and pancreas.

She added that doctors have characteristic statistics: if injuries are more often recorded on New Year's Eve, then exacerbations of cholelithiasis and pancreatitis are more common on Easter. According to her, emergency operations to remove the gallbladder are often performed during this period, so you should start talking gradually and carefully, writes RT.

In February, gastroenterologist Ekaterina Kashukh urged people with anemia and diabetes to abandon fasting. According to her, pregnant and lactating women, as well as children and adolescents, should also not fast during the period of active growth. 360.ru .

At the same time, cardiologist Arsen Arakelyan said that long breaks in food can cause a sharp drop in glucose and hypoglycemia, which can lead to coma. It is vital for patients on insulin to "eat regularly." The expert noted that fasting should be treated with caution in cases of ulcers, gastritis with increased acidity, pancreatitis, reflux esophagitis, oncology, as well as kidney or liver failure, epilepsy and a number of endocrine diseases.

Also in February, nutritionist Roman Pristansky told how to maintain a fast and not lose it. According to him, this can be avoided if you do not starve, but make a balanced diet: add protein and fat sources, such as fish and seafood, diversify your diet and select calories so that there is no energy deficit.
