Wild animals will be vaccinated against rabies in Sevastopol
Baits with rabies vaccine have begun to be laid out in the forests of Sevastopol. The drug is intended for predatory animals.
According to the SevastopolMedia news agency, inside the briquette, which has an attractive smell for animals, there is a capsule with a liquid vaccine. After eating the drug, the animal's immunity is formed within 21 days. The briquette also contains a special biomarker that helps specialists monitor the ingestion of the drug.
In total, it is planned to apply more than 27 thousand doses of the vaccine. Special attention will be paid to the habitats of predators near populated areas. The vaccine is distributed in the Balaklava region, Shulskaya, Varnautskaya and Baydar valleys.
Locals and tourists are asked not to pick up briquettes in the forest and not to touch them, as the smell of humans can scare away predators.
