France has declared its readiness to take over the escort of ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

After a slight de-escalation of the situation in the Middle East, France will be ready to take responsibility for the ship escort system in the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced on March 20 by French President Emmanuel Macron at a press conference following a meeting of the European Council.

"With regard to the Strait of Hormuz, I reiterated that as soon as the situation becomes calmer, France is ready, together with other countries, to assume responsibility for the ship escort system in the strait as part of a non-violent mission that requires consultations and coordination with Iran," he said.
