The Muslim celebration of Eid al-Fitr, also known as Eid al-Fitr, is annually accompanied by large-scale events. In 2026, it falls on March 20th. Which roads will be closed on March 19 and 20 in Moscow

In Moscow, streets near mosques will be closed during the holiday. The restrictions will be in effect in the morning hours so that Muslims can gather for morning prayers. Roads will be closed at the Cathedral, Historical, Memorial and Sunni mosque Yards.

Where traffic will be blocked on March 20:

  • on Shchepkin, Meshchanskaya, Gilyarovsky, Bolshaya Tatarskaya streets from 00:01 to 11:00;
  • in Kapelsky, Vypolzove, Stary Tolmachevsky, Klimentovsky, Ozerkovsky and Maly Tatarsky lanes from 00:01 to 11:00;
  • at the exits from General Dorokhov Avenue when driving to the region, the center and on Minskaya Street from 00:01 to 12:00;
  • on Khachaturian streets (from house 16 on Altufyevsky highway to house 12, building 2, on Khachaturian Street), Kargopolskaya from 04:00 to 11:00;
  • on the section of Mira Avenue towards the center from Kapelsky Lane to building 41, building 2, one extreme right lane will be closed from 06:00 to 11:00;
  • on Khachaturian Street (from building 12, building 2, along Khachaturian Street to Otradnaya Street) from 05:00 to 08:00.

Traffic will be blocked on Durov Street from 23:00 on March 19 to 11:00 on March 20.

Operation of public transport on Eid al-Adha in Moscow

Due to the closure of roads, public transport routes will also undergo changes.

  • Buses B will not stop at Sukharevskaya Metro station — Oleg Tabakov Moscow Theater and Meshchanskaya Street in the direction of Mayakovskaya metro station from 06:00 to 11:00.
  • The Kapelsky Lane, Prospekt Mira, Aptekarsky Ogorod and Meshchanskaya Sloboda metro stops will not work on the m2, m9, 903 and h9 routes.
  • The stops "Olympic Sports Complex" in both directions, "1st Troitskiy Lane" and "Samotechnaya Street" in the direction of Dostoevskaya metro station will not work for buses m5, m53, 538 and h6.
  • Buses 292 will run to Kuryanovsky terminal number 292a from 06:00 to 10:30 on March 20.

Bus routes in the area of Khachaturian Street in Otradnoye will also be changed from 03:45 to the end of the festivities.:

  • Route c6 will go along Dekabristov Street to Bestuzhev Street, and back as usual.;
  • The M54 will run along Altufyevsky Highway and Dekabristov Street;
  • bus 598 will go along Dekabristov Street;
  • 628 will run to the stop at the Otradnoye metro station on Dekabristov Street.;
  • 803 and h9 will not stop at the Otradnoye metro station.

Parking ban in Moscow on March 19 and 20

On Thursday, March 19, from 00:01 and until the end of the celebration on March 20, parking will be prohibited in the following places:

  • Bolshaya Tatarskaya Street,
  • Durov Street,
  • Shchepkin Street,
  • Meshchanskaya street,
  • Gilyarovsky Street,
  • Old Tolmachevsky lane,
  • Maly Tatarsky Lane,
  • Klimentovsky Lane,
  • Ozerkovsky Lane,
  • Vypolzova Lane,

Kapelsky lane.

Opening hours of mosques on Eid al-Adha in Moscow

On March 20, 2026, mosques in Moscow will be open to all believers.

Festive worship services and prayer in mosques (Cathedral, Historical, Memorial) will begin at 7:00 a.m. The gathering of believers will begin at 6:00 a.m. There will also be an additional playground in Pechatniki (Kuryanovo metro station) in the Technical Sports Center (Projected Passage, 4386). Prayer will begin there at 7:30.

The main mosques in Moscow:

  • The Moscow Cathedral Mosque (Prospekt Mira metro station, 7 Vypolzov Lane) is the central venue.
  • Historical mosque (Novokuznetsk metro station/Tretyakovskaya metro station, Bolshaya Tatarskaya str., 28, building 1).
  • Memorial mosque "Shuhada" (m. "Victory Park", Minskaya St., 2B).
