On March 19, US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy John Cole discussed with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko his possible visit to the United States.

"We also discussed a possible trip by President Lukashenko to the United States and will work to arrange it," he is quoted as saying on the Telegram channel Pool One.

The emissary said that Trump constantly speaks of the President of Belarus as his "good friend and respected world leader."

On the same day, Lukashenko called himself a Trump supporter, even despite the "certain mistakes" made by the United States. It was noted that during the talks with Cole, the Belarusian leader discussed the normalization of the work of the Belarusian-American diplomatic missions and the release of prisoners. He called the resulting discussions "worthy."
