More than 1 billion rubles were allocated to fight forest fires in Primorye
In Primorsky Krai, more than 1.2 billion rubles were allocated to fight forest fires in 2026. This is 185 million rubles more than a year earlier.
Of this amount, 354 million rubles came from the federal budget, the remaining 860 million rubles from the regional budget, the news agency UssurMedia clarifies with reference to the press service of the legislative assembly of the region.
It is noted that since the beginning of this year, 131 fires have been recorded in the region on a total area exceeding 19 thousand hectares, of which 23 fires are on the lands of the forest fund. In the same period of 2025, there were 68 forest fires on an area of 2.9 thousand hectares.
According to the regional Minister of Forestry Konstantin Stepanov, in recent years there has been a steady downward trend in the area of forest fires. This is due, among other things, to increased funding, limited annealing, and the use of preventive measures.
The readiness of the Primorsky base of aviation and ground protection of forests for the fire season is estimated at 100%. Contracts have been signed for firefighting from the air, air monitoring and patrol routes. Tenants of forest plots began to be involved in extinguishing.
Earlier it was reported that the fire season has been officially opened in nine regions of Russia since the beginning of March, and new forest and natural fires are starting every day. So far, the fire has not led to the destruction of houses and infrastructure, and new fires can be quickly eliminated. However, in Primorsky Krai, where the most severe fire situation has been established, smog has begun.
