The State Duma announced a bill against cheating ratings on the Internet
State Duma deputies from the Fair Russia faction are preparing a bill that will provide for the responsibility of website owners for rating manipulation and provide law enforcement agencies with the authority to prevent such actions. This was announced on March 19 by the leader of the Fair Russia party, Sergei Mironov.
The parliamentarian noted that in recent years, the practice of artificially increasing ratings, ratings and reviews using "bots" and other technologies has become widespread on the Internet, including online commerce. In his opinion, such actions can be considered a form of unfair advertising or even fraud, since they mislead consumers for the sake of selfish gain.
"It is obvious that such manipulations need to be put up a hard barrier, and Internet bots should be outlawed in cases where their use leads to a violation of citizens' rights. We need to start by ensuring that the owner of the website, Internet site or resource where they are posted is responsible for the purity of ratings and ratings," the deputy told TASS.
