Exchange prices for natural gas in Europe rose during trading on Wednesday, March 18, after a strike in Iran on the world's largest field. This is evidenced by the data from the ICE Futures platform.

According to information from the exchange at 15:17 Moscow time, the cost of April gas futures at the TTF hub in the Netherlands increased by 1.35% and reached €52.26 per 1 MWh.

In terms of the current exchange rate on the forex market, the price was about $632.5 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said on March 17 that the European Union expects a sharp increase in gas prices in 2026, which will create serious risks for industry and households. He also referred to HSBC's forecast that natural gas prices in Europe would be 40% higher than previously expected levels. According to his assessment, this is only the beginning of a more serious crisis.
