The United States underestimated the combat effectiveness of the Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and was unprepared for the scale of the threat posed by them. CNN reported this on March 17, citing an informed source.

"Drones flying in one direction are a bigger problem than expected," the article says.

According to the TV channel, Washington failed to fully predict the effectiveness of drone attacks, despite studying the experience of combat operations in Ukraine, where UAVs play a key role. At the same time, representatives of the American Pentagon acknowledge the existence of serious problems in the current protection system.

One of the reasons for the slow response to the threat is the bureaucratic delay in funding. The American official stressed that the army is making every effort to accelerate procurement and innovation in the field of combating drones, but the US Congress is not providing a fast enough flow of funds for the implementation of these programs.

On the same day, Iran attacked US military bases in Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, as well as American ships of the 5th Fleet of the Naval Forces (Navy). Medium-range Fatah, Khyber Shakan and Fateh systems, as well as drones, were used for the attacks.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on March 16 that Iran would continue to strike US bases in the Middle East until the complete withdrawal of the US military from the region.
