Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the safety of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines during a telephone conversation. This was announced on March 17 by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"In particular, in the light of the Kiev regime's incessant attempts to damage the infrastructure of the Blue and Turkish Stream gas pipelines, special attention was drawn to the absolute importance of ensuring comprehensive pipeline safety," the ministry said in a statement on its official website.

In addition, the ministers also discussed the situation around Iran. The Russian side stressed its readiness to facilitate the settlement and coordinate actions, including jointly with Turkey.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting of the board of the FSB of Russia, said that the Russian Federation has information about possible attempts to undermine the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream pipelines running along the bottom of the Black Sea. Putin added that Western countries are trying to destroy the peace negotiation process on Ukraine. He noted that Russia's opponents "cannot calm down in any way" and are doing everything to commit provocations in order to disrupt the negotiations.
