Toyota has registered the Corolla trademark in Russia
Toyota has registered a trademark in Russia with the name of the popular Corolla model. Information about the state registration of the trademark appeared in the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS).
The copyright holder of the trademark is Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha (also trading as Toyota Motor Corporation) from Japan, the document states. The trademark was registered on March 17, 2026.
The expiration date of the exclusive right is March 28, 2035. The trademark is registered according to Class 12 of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICTS), which includes automobiles.
Toyota has stopped the supply of new cars to Russia and the production of cars at the plant in St. Petersburg in 2022. The Japanese manufacturer protects trademark rights to limit their use by third parties. Earlier in March, Toyota registered the Avensis trademark in Russia.
According to Focus2Move, the Toyota Corolla ranked third in sales in the global market by the end of 2025, second only to the Toyota RAV4 and the leading electric car, the Tesla Model Y.
Earlier, on March 12, it was reported that the Lada Tigris trademark had passed state registration in Russia. It is possible that in the future this name may be used for a new Lada model. The application for registration of the Lada Tigris trademark was submitted to Rospatent in early 2025, along with Lada Parus, Lada Ariva, Lada Yarus and Lada Yashma. At the same time, the Lada Parus trademark was already registered in early March.
