- The NYT learned about the inability of the USS Gerald R. Ford team to put out the fire in 30 hours
The crew members of the aircraft carrier of the United States Navy (Navy) USS Gerald R. Ford could not extinguish the fire on the ship for more than 30 hours. This was reported on March 16 by The New York Times (NYT), citing several sailors involved in the operation.
It took sailors and military officials more than 30 hours to put out a fire on the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford last week.
The fire, as it was recalled there, broke out last Thursday, March 12, in the main laundry room of the ship. As a result of the incident, two people were injured, and dozens of all 4,500 people on board were poisoned by carbon monoxide.
The USS Gerald R. Ford moved towards the Middle East from the American base on the Greek island of Crete, where it arrived for refueling, on February 26. Some time later, after Washington and Tel Aviv joined forces and launched a military operation against Tehran called "Lion's Roar," a fire was detected on the aircraft carrier on March 12.
The next day, the representative of the central headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, Khatam al-Anbiya, stressed that the incident was allegedly arranged by the American military themselves, who did not want to speak out against the Iranian fighters. A representative of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on March 15 that the USS Gerald R. Ford service centers in the Red Sea are considered targets of Tehran.
