The European Commission (EC) plans to submit a proposal to lift the exemption that allowed Slovakia and Hungary to import oil from Russia. This was announced on March 16 by European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen during a press conference after a meeting of energy ministers of the European Union (EU) countries.

"The European Commission intends to submit a proposal to ban oil imports from Russia. There are sanctions now, but two countries have exceptions, and we will submit a proposal to change this situation," he said.
