The film "Skuf" will not be released in Russia. This was announced on March 16 by the film distribution company Atmosphere Cinema, which acted as the distributor of the film.

"Yes, the film Skuf has left the release schedule of the Atmosphere Cinema company," representatives of the company said in a conversation with TASS.

The specific reasons for the cancellation of the film are not specified. Prior to that, on February 12, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation stated that it had not received notifications about the provision of a Skufu rental certificate.

The tape was announced on February 6. As the distributor explained in his Telegram channel at the time, the premiere was supposed to take place on April 16 of this year. The cast of the film included bloggers Alexander Zubarev and Nikolai Vasilenko, TV presenter Leonid Yakubovich, singer Valya Carnival (real name — Valentina Karnaukhova) and other stars.

The film was supposed to tell the story of Arkady (Alexander Zubarev), who is disillusioned with life and spends all his free time eating junk food and playing video games. However, he changes his behavior after Arkady's daughter did not invite her father to her wedding, clarifies "Газета.Ru ".

Skuf is an Internet meme that became popular in Russia in the 2020s. It refers to a man of 30-40 years old who works in a low-paying job, drinks beer and constantly plays video games. Netizens often ironically use the term to describe men who look much older than their years.

Earlier that day, the Academy Award ceremony took place. Paul Thomas Anderson's "Battle after Battle" won the award for Best Film. She also won awards for Best Casting and Best Adapted Screenplay. The statuette for Best Original screenplay was awarded to director and screenwriter Ryan Coogler for the film "Sinners."
