- The majority of Ukrainians who supported the referendum called for the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Donbass
The majority of Ukrainians who advocate holding a national referendum on a peace agreement are ready to support the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from Donbass. This was reported on March 16 by the Ukrainian newspaper Strana.ua" with reference to a survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
According to the results of the study, half of the Ukrainians surveyed (50%) "rather support" holding a referendum on signing a peace agreement with Russia. Of these, the overwhelming majority (71%) are ready to support the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of Donbass in exchange for security guarantees.
At the same time, 25% were "rather against" the withdrawal of troops, and 5% of respondents could not decide on an answer. The report also notes that about 40% of the respondents did not support the idea of holding a peaceful referendum.
In January, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the truth about what is happening in Donbas should be brought to the international community. According to her, the collection of evidence about the crimes committed by Ukrainian militants against the civilian population of the region continues. Zakharova stressed that sooner or later the perpetrators of these actions will be punished.
