Golikova noted the growing number of doctors and nurses in remote areas of Russia
Last year, almost 4,000 doctors were sent to remote areas of Russia. This was announced on March 16 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.
According to her, there is a steady increase in the number of doctors in the country: in 2023-2025, it amounted to about 20 thousand people. Since last year, there has also been an increase in the number of nurses and paramedics — by 7.5 thousand.
Golikova noted that the positive dynamics is associated with a set of measures: special social benefits, changes in targeted training and support programs for health workers. Since 2025, work has also been underway to assess labor productivity for more efficient use of personnel.
"This allowed our regions to identify surplus specialties and redirect doctors, including to primary care, remote medical organizations using the so-called shift method while maintaining their main place of work. Last year, 3.7 thousand doctors were sent to remote regions under this program," she said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on February 18 that the country would improve the system of remuneration for medical workers, as well as improve the quality and accessibility of medical care for citizens. He noted that citizens should be able to receive timely and qualified assistance "regardless of where they live and work."
