Over the past weekend, 371 accidents were recorded on Russian roads, 42 people were killed and 484 injured. 31 people died among the drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on March 16 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.
In the Novosibirsk region, on 109 km of the federal highway R-255 Siberia, in the evening, a 43-year-old minivan driver with five passengers in the cabin unexpectedly drove into the oncoming lane in conditions of strong sideways gusty winds, where he collided with a truck. The State Traffic Inspectorate urged drivers to always be attentive, collected and disciplined when driving vehicles in conditions of changing seasons and changeable spring weather. It is recommended not to be distracted while driving, to abandon risky driving behavior, exceeding the permitted speed limit, sudden changes of lanes, overtaking, entering oncoming traffic even in permitted places, as well as other dangerous maneuvers.
In addition, 23 bus accidents were recorded over the weekend, in which one person was killed, and 29 more road users, including three children, needed medical attention. 15 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded drivers of the need to be extremely careful while driving in populated areas. The behavior of children near the roadway is often unpredictable. A child left unattended by adults may suddenly run out from behind a parked car or other objects and structures that restrict the view of the person behind the wheel. You should be doubly careful when maneuvering and reversing in a residential area or courtyard area. It is important to be constantly ready to react immediately to the sudden appearance of children on the road.
"We draw parents' attention to monitoring the leisure time and behavior of preschoolers and younger schoolchildren on weekends. Unfortunately, the lack of such control by adults often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users, since with the onset of spring they spend a lot of time in yards and on the streets, and during outdoor activities they often forget about observing the basic rules of safe behavior on the road," said the deputy head of the safety propaganda department. Over the past 15 days of March, 212 accidents involving child pedestrians occurred in Russia, in which four young road users of this category were killed and 216 injured, the State Traffic Inspectorate estimated.
