A court in Moscow fined Telegram 35 million rubles.
The Tagansky Court of Moscow found Telegram guilty of committing an administrative offense related to the late deletion of information in accordance with Russian law and imposed administrative fines totaling 35 million rubles. This was reported on March 16 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
The court found Telegram Messenger Inc. guilty under 3 protocols of an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. A fine of 7 million rubles was imposed on each of them.
Under this article, legal entities face a fine in the amount of 3 million to 8 million rubles.
In February, it was reported that Roskomnadzor had sent demands to the Telegram messenger to remove more than 35.6 thousand illegal materials since the beginning of 2026, including child pornography and information on ways to circumvent blockages.
It was noted that a significant amount of prohibited content had been identified and was subject to removal. The largest share was made up of materials with child pornography.
