- The government has approved a list of priority professions for the economy in universities
The government has approved a list of priority professions for the economy and areas of study at colleges and universities. This was announced on March 16 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
He noted that the government is consistently implementing measures to train the personnel needed by the economy with modern knowledge and competencies. Mishustin stressed that today this is one of the most important tasks for all levels of education.
"On behalf of the President [of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin], a list of professions and areas of study for 300 college and university programs has been approved, and it also includes scientific specialties. All of them meet the objectives of achieving technological leadership and implementing relevant national projects," he said.
It clarifies that the list includes: mathematics, natural sciences, humanities, engineering, healthcare and medicine, as well as agriculture. The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation also stated that the number of budget places in these areas will increase.
On February 25, Putin said at the Future Technologies Forum that vocational education programs in Russia need to be updated, while focusing on students' practice in the field of biotechnology. The Head of State noted that the knowledge of graduates of many universities and colleges significantly lags behind the current level of biotechnology development.
