Russians who have used paid medical services or bought medicines will be able to refund part of the personal income tax (personal income tax) for them. This was announced on March 16 by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.

"The total limit on social tax deductions for personal income tax, if expenses for medical treatment, sports and education are incurred, in 2026 is 150 thousand rubles. At the same time, the general limit does not apply to expensive types of treatment," the agency told RIA Novosti.

Representatives of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) explained that a citizen of the Russian Federation can use this function in the amount of the actual expenses incurred for treatment and purchase of the necessary funds, but not more than 150 thousand rubles per year. The unused balance of the social tax deduction, as emphasized in the instance, cannot be postponed to next year.

Irina Myasnikova, Chairman of the Board of the All-Russian Society of Rare (Orphan) Diseases BOAZ, said at a press conference in Izvestia on March 11 that 76% of patients with rare diseases in the Russian Federation have benefits for receiving medicines. She clarified that almost all minors in the country are provided with the necessary drugs.
